About
The first EP, Yes, It's About You is out and streaming on most platforms. It was produced and mixed by Sonny Ratcliff at Refuge Recording in Brooklyn. Acompanying the album's release, two live action music videos were made with Davd Doobinin and DM created a third animated lyric video from a sketch made by her brother.
Currently, DM is in post-production for the release of the next EP, recorded remotely during the pandemic and in person, again with Sonny at Wildwood Recording Studio in Brooklyn. |
A saxophone, a guitar and an upright bass enter the stage. Part folk, part jazz, part soul, DM & the Expats is what happens when three women musicians in the NYC music scene happily find each other and combine forces. The three breathe their own styles into DM's songwriting, making arrangements that combine and show off each of their specialties: Georgia's subtle yet sophisticated jazz training, Kath's jazz, soul and funk savvy and DM's anti-folk and theatrical influences. Their sound is soothing and powerful and their report playful and familiar, inviting audiences to artfully arranged tunes, skillful performing and feeling all their feels.
DM and the Expats have played venues around NYC (Pete's Candy Store, Rockwood Music Hall, Cornelia Street Cafe, Drom, Berlin) and made instant fans on tour in CA (Harvelle's Santa Monica, The Virgil). |
